ADA COMPLIANCE
Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance
The History Center is fully compliant within the ADA guidelines. The site has been subjected to repeated inspections by the Borough of Avalon Construction office during the construction period.
The Borough has certified this compliance in issuing our Certificate of Occupancy.
ADA Plan and Policy
The Board of trustees of the Avalon Museum, now History Center, adopted the following resolution at their March 2002 meeting. It is still in effect.
Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance Policy
The History Center subscribes fully to the purpose and content of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The public spaces of the Center are fully compliant with the ADA, including entrance access and access to public exhibits and restrooms.
The Executive Committee and the Exhibits Committee, through direction from the Curator/Director, prepare all History Center spaces to maximize their accessibility to disabled persons.
All governing bodies will consult the Borough Construction Office on ADA requirements prior to initiating projects.
Any proposals for modification or expansion of the History Center or grounds must be reviewed for ADA compliance before submission to the Board of Trustees. Project proposals will include a description of such requirements and their cost as part of the overall project estimate.
The Board on a whole will report annually on progress and plans regarding compliance. |
